Today I wanted to go to the tropics but it has been cold and rainy this week in Oregon. So I decided to sketch a series of tropical themed sketches for my daily paintings for Facebook. Today's sketch was sketched from a photo I found on the web. The music for the video soundtrack was created by Trevin Hughes , my nephew, and a very talented young musician. The sketch was digital and done in about 30 minutes using a wacom bamboo digital tablet and photoshop cs5.

Today I attempted a caricature of filmaker Michael Moore. He is the celebrity that Caricaturama Showdown 3000 contest is featuring this week on Facebook. I'm not very happy with how this came out so I may try it again later. This is all digital - done with a wacom tablet and photoshop cs5. It took about 40 min.
Today I was inspired by artist Daniel Lee and his morphing images like his series called Origin an d his series of man/animal mixes called "Manimals". I decided to take Leonardo da Vinci and a grey alien and make something out of the mix. Its all fun, just a brain phart doodle. My daily sketch for facebook. This took about 15 min. and is all digital.
This was a very quick sketch. I think I need to find a good photo reference and then caricature from that instead of extrapolating or synthesizing a face out of my head using photos that aren't the same angle etc. So I'm still looking for that perfect shot of her to use as my source. This took 10 minutes and is all digital.

Yesterday I did a caricature of Nicolas Sarkozy and today I did some minor tweaks to make it a better likeness. I arched the eyebrows more and rotated the eyes a bit to make them more worried or sad looking with heavier thicker lids. I also worked more on the nose and some of the facial creases. Total time for yesterday and today about 40 minutes.
This is my first rough sketch for an upcoming Tina Turner caricature contest this week at CS3000 on Facebook. It is pretty rough but I only spent about 15 min on it. In the next sketch I will make the mouth bigger, hair bigger and more wild , reduce the scale of the body down and maybe look for a sexier pose, I dunno.
