Obama Caricature-02

Today I tried a caricature of President Obama with a different facial expression than I've sketched before in my caricatures of him. This is all digital and took about 30 minutes to sketch.

Creepy Lady from "Drag Me To Hell"

Today I simply didn't have time to sketch and this evening before going to bed I did a sketch anyway. I decided to break from the caricature of severus snape I'm working on and do something totally different. So I chose to sketch the creepy old lady from "Drag Me To Hell". And I did it with my left hand. My left hand has a palsy or giggly line that I thought might make this subject more interesting.

This is still work in progress. I have until next monday to complete this image for the Facebook group called Caricaturama Showdown 3000. I spent another 30 minutes on it today and I'm gradually moving closer to a likeness. This is all digital.

Today I started a sketch for an upcoming Caricaturama Showdown 3000 contest. The target for this week is actor Alan Rickman. I loved his Severus Snape character he plays in the Harry Potter films. This is work in progress. All digital. 15 min.

Sketch of Ian McKellen

The actor Ian McKellen has a very cool face. I think most older people do. Yesterday I started collecting reference photos of interesting older people and his mug cropped up a lot in my searches. Yesterday's sketch of the day was loosely taken from one of his on stage characters from Waiting for Godot. This took about 40 min. It is all digital.

Old Man Head Study

Today I was thinking about paintings done in "chiaroscuro". And I sort of synthesized this out of my head after looking at scores of portraits done like this. All digital - done in about 30 min.

Female Head Studies

This is one of the digital doodles I did today. I've been experimenting with different brush settings in photoshop. I have been painting recently with the settings set to full opaque much like an ipad or more simple paint program would work. I'm going to look for and find some more subtle and softer brush settings for future paintings.
